Today the HHS Forensics Team traveled to Newton. This was an INCREDIBLY tough competition, with most schools from 4A. The team took 11 students, 14 events. The following medaled:
+Sophia Weber - 1st in Poetry
Aidan Thibodeau & Payton Arnold - 5th in Duet
Ethan Urbanek & Henry Nelson - 5th in I.D.A.
+previously qualified for state champs
BUT 7 other events were RIGHT next to breaking into finals by just one ranking point!! AND the IDA team of Will Lingenfelser and Peyton Taylor SHOULD have broke finals but there was a glitch and was not caught until after the tournament!!
The WHOLE team should be incredibly proud!! Coach Hirsch was not disappointed at all. “It was a tough day, but we know what we need to work on and we are excited to keep working towards our goals!”
Coach Hirsch would also like to give a huge thanks to Mrs. Reimer for coming in last minute to help judge and drive today!!
Next tournament is next Saturday at Salina South! Go Railers!!
Good Luck Forensics!!

Additional FCCLA Pic!
Herington FCCLA went to Abilene on Feb 1 to present Star Events and run for District Office. Two members will serve as the District C President Korey Meier and 1st VP Karizma Matthews. We have three students going onto State in Job Interview level II and III and Professional Presentation. We also had two groups present on Focus on Children whom fell a little short but hopefully gained great exposure in presenting to Judges. Their projects were Family Fun Night and Connection Day with the HES students and their families. They did great community service for our school. Great Job FCCLA Kids.
According to Attendance Works, if your child misses 10%, or about 18 days of school, it can drastically affect their academic success. By 9th grade, regular and high attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores. Communicate with the school about our attendance policies and work to ensure the success of your child!
