This winter Mrs. Stilwell, school counselor, read the book Scribble Stones to students in K-5. The story starts off with a happy little stone who dreams of being something amazing, but ends up being just a dull paperweight. On his journey, he meets Scribble and Splatter, who desperately need his help when they run out of paper. With teamwork and creativity they created the Scribble Stone Art Project. This was a super fun project for our students. Our lesson was about working together to spread happiness by painting on rocks. First, the K-2 students painted their artwork on a stone. Next, the 3-5 students built upon the initial artwork and added their own touch of creativity to the rock. Then for an Earth Day activity, the Fourth graders pulled weeds and prepared the area to lay the newly painted rocks. Lastly the rocks were placed, carefully preserving the rocks painted several years ago by the KRR students led by Cindy Roberts. Please stop by and take a look at the beautifully creative rocks our elementary students painted. It’s a bright attraction at the front of our school. #GameOnRailers
