MTSS students take a short break from the math curriculum to play March, WE MEAN MATH, Madness! Students created numbers from 0-999 and placed into the bracket for Round 1. Then they used probability by flipping a coin to determine the winners for each round. In Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4 the number with less value won. In Round 5, Round 6, and the Championship, the number with the greatest value won. On Monday, we will all be back to practice in Number Worlds and busy building MATH CHAMPIONS! #growinglearners

Mrs. Beye’s MTSS is currently reading the book The Carpenter. Thank you to Payten Schneider for creating her class the positivity pledge handout from our reading. It is a good reminder that when challenges come our way this pledge will help.

Volleyball Summer League Forms are available in the middle school and high school offices. Any player grades 8 to 11 are encouraged to participate in this activity. See Mrs. Beye with questions.

HES students in the KRR/LIFE program celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a delicious and special cake from Sweet Creations on Monday evening (3/18/19)!

Any idea what Principles of Biomedical students are up to this morning? We are working on chromosome splats from HeLa cells. For those of you who don’t know the story, these are Henrietta Lacks cells that are still being used from 1951. We are on the first leg of our journey in this lab. The higher we “splat” from, the better the chances of breaking the cell membrane and releasing the chromosomes. Tomorrow we will stain, seal and view the chromosomes. Wish us luck!

The Herington High School FBLA’s Community Service Project this year focuses on the leadership of our youth. Therefore, we would like to host a day of Leadership Activities for the 8th grade class. Along with the Dickinson County Youth Leadership Group we will be taking all 8th graders to Rock Springs Ranch Friday, March 22nd for Leadership Activities. You will need to wear jeans and a railer shirt and comfortable shoes. You also need to pack a sack lunch for the trip. No extra money will be needed. We will leave the school at 9:00 and return approximately 2:45. We look forward to a great day. Sponsors on the Trip are: Lisa Beye, Tom Flax and Kyle Barton. FBLA members will be assisting with the events.

NOTICE DATE CHANGE!
There will be an 8th grade parent meeting this Tuesday, March 19th at 6:00 PM in Ms. Hawkins’ room at the Middle School. We will discuss the upcoming fundraiser, 8th grade trip and recognition.
