Mrs. Beye’s MTSS is currently reading the book The Carpenter. Thank you to Payten Schneider for creating her class the positivity pledge handout from our reading. It is a good reminder that when challenges come our way this pledge will help.

Any idea what Principles of Biomedical students are up to this morning? We are working on chromosome splats from HeLa cells.  For those of you who don’t know the story, these are Henrietta Lacks cells that are still being used from 1951. We are on the first leg of our journey in this lab.  The higher we “splat” from, the better the chances of breaking the cell membrane and releasing the chromosomes.  Tomorrow we will stain, seal and view the chromosomes.    Wish us luck!

The Herington High School FBLA’s Community Service Project this year focuses on the leadership of our youth. Therefore, we would like to host a day of Leadership Activities for the 8th grade class. Along with the Dickinson County Youth Leadership Group we will be taking all 8th graders to Rock Springs Ranch Friday, March 22nd for Leadership Activities. You will need to wear jeans and a railer shirt and comfortable shoes. You also need to pack a sack lunch for the trip. No extra money will be needed. We will leave the school at 9:00 and return approximately 2:45. We look forward to a great day. Sponsors on the Trip are: Lisa Beye, Tom Flax and Kyle Barton. FBLA members will be assisting with the events.

Superintendent Search – Community Forum On Tuesday, March 19, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., you are invited to a community forum session in the Herington Elementary School flex lab. We are asking for your input on the characteristics or qualities you think the Board should consider as they select the new superintendent. Craig Wilford, representing the Kansas Association of School Boards, will be present to facilitate the meeting and receive your input. Your input is a major component of identifying key characteristics of our next superintendent. Mr. Wilford will also meet in separate sessions with our teachers, staff, and administrative staff. Information collected from all of the groups will be presented to the Board to assist in the selection process.
