Lucas Anschutz is the son of Jeremy and Jacki Anschutz.
Lucas thinks he was selected because of how involved he is in sports and clubs. And because of my leadership roles in them, while also being able to keep my grades up in the classroom.
Throughout his high school years, Lucas has been involved in Football, Wrestling, Golf, Track and FFA.
When asked, Mr. Flax said, “Lucas does a great job in weights and conditioning. He comes prepared everyday and puts out his best effort. I believe that Lucas was chosen for student of the month because of his positive attitude and his work ethic in the classroom and in the activities that he participates in.”
After high school, Lucas will take classes from Barton County toward a degree in Physical Therapy.
Kindergarten Round-Up in the Herington School District will be Friday, April 12, 2019. The child must be five years old on or before August 31, 2019 to attend Kindergarten next term.
Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up and become informed and prepared for your child’s Kindergarten year. Each student will be given an assessment to indicate their level of readiness for Kindergarten. The screening will focus on motor skills, concepts, social/emotional skills and language.
During this time, parents will fill out the enrollment form and go over medical information with the school nurse. Parents are asked to bring their child’s birth certificate, social security number, health insurance information, immunization records and recent health assessment, if available.
Appointments are required. Please call Herington Elementary School at 785-258-3234 to schedule an appointment for Friday, April 12. The process will take approximately an hour and a half.

MTSS students take a short break from the math curriculum to play March, WE MEAN MATH, Madness! Students created numbers from 0-999 and placed into the bracket for Round 1. Then they used probability by flipping a coin to determine the winners for each round. In Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4 the number with less value won. In Round 5, Round 6, and the Championship, the number with the greatest value won. On Monday, we will all be back to practice in Number Worlds and busy building MATH CHAMPIONS! #growinglearners
