HES Families: Please remember that each student needs to have an extra pair of clean shoes for PE. These do NOT need to be a new pair of shoes. We had the gym floor refinished over the summer so we are wanting to keep it as nice as possible. If the extra pair of shoes is going to be a hardship please contact our office staff and we will do our best to support you!

I would like to inform you, due to the high heat index expected the next couple of days, our coaches are adjusting practices to allow for extra water breaks, cool down times, and reduced conditioning. Please stress the importance of hydration to your student athlete.

HES staff members are excited to #BeAllWeCanBe this year! Staff members learned about the history of Herington’s relationship with our Department of Defense and the background of some of our local veterans - there are many parallels and similar character traits pertaining to teachers and soldiers. A huge thank you to our Herington veterans and community members who took the time to make this a terrific morning! #beingallwecanbe

Students entering 8th-11th grades had the opportunity to sign up for a trip to Washington DC through World Classrooms. The trip has been in the works for almost 2 years. This week, it was finally time to travel. 19 students, 6 parents, 2 teachers, and the principal all traveled to DC for a 4 day trip. Some of the sites included the U.S. Capitol, the Presidential memorials, the war memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, and Mount Vernon.
