
The SALT attended a workshop at Hope High School this past week with facilitator Joe Cole's. Mason Hinkle was the sponsor of the Herington students at the event. A special thank you to Orange Express for sponsoring this event.





The middle school staff members chose 7th grader Ella Nelson as the August Student of the Month. Ella participates in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Pep Band, Student Council, Dance, and Swim Team. Ella believes she was chosen as the student of the month because she is a kind, respectful, and responsible student and teammate. Ella also feels that she is a helpful and friendly student to all her peers and teammates. Ella is the daughter of Dan and Andrea Nelson.

Middle School Sports Pictures will be Wednesday, September 6th after school. Please make sure the players have their uniforms. This includes ms football and ms volleyball only. Cheer pictures will be taken in the winter. You can download and print the order form or have your player pick one up in the middle school office. Order forms are due by Friday, September 15th.

The HMS volleyball team will be taking a trip to Manhattan to watch the K-State volleyball team play in their new facility on Saturday Sept. 16th. Game time is at 12:00p. They will be traveling by school bus. Tickets are paid for, so the only money they will need is if they plan to purchase food from concessions. Please contact Coach Pritchard at jpritchard@usd487.org if your volleyball player will not be attending.

HMS Railers lost their opener to Wakefield 24-46. The railers offense moved the ball all game but came up short on the defensive side.

HMS A-Team lost a tough fought match to Wakefield 18-25, 26-28. The B-Team picked up an exciting win 25-18, 28-26. Way to work tonight Railers!



The HMS "A" and "B" volleyball teams will travel to Wakefield for their first competition of the season today. "A" team will play at 4:30 followed by the "B" team. Good Luck Lady Railers!!

Reminder that we will be having High School Fall Sports Pictures tomorrow after school. Cross Country - 3:30; Volleyball 3:40; Football 4:00. Order forms will be available in the office or at the time of pictures. The attached form can also be printed and turned in with money. Deadline to order Fall Sports Pictures is Friday, September 8th.


Some of the FCCLA members went to Manhattan for the Take Aim conference, then went exploring KSU campus and found some ice cream at Call Hall. Korey was able to represent Herington and District C president.
