Henry and Mrs Beye spent the day in Topeka at the CTSO Citizenship Day. Kansas CTSO Citizenship Day is an annual event where student leaders from Career & Technical Student Organizations travel to Topeka to meet with the Kansas State Board of Education and legislators, advocating for Career & Technical Education (CTE) and sharing their organization's impact on student futures.
Students from the Herington HS chapter of YLinK (Youth Leaders in KS), purchased supplies for students to make "anti-gloom" bags. These items were self care, relaxation, and stress reduction focused. Students were given a bag to pick item such as flavored lip balm, gum, journals, coloring books, colored pencils, fidget spinners, stress balls, hot chocolate, under eye masks, and soft fluffy socks! The YLinK members enjoyed being able to help the student body start the semester on a positive note!

2026 Missouri State University Juried Exhibition for High School
Big news for Herington HS! Congratulations to Sarah for her incredible showing at the MSU Virtual Juried Exhibit.
Sarah took home a Merit Award for her ceramic piece Elegantly Wonky, along with Honorable Mentions for Part of Life’s Rich Tapestry (ceramics) and There’s Always Hope in Kansas (pen and ink).
This was the most competitive year yet, with 728 entries from 10 states. Only 145 awards were given out in total, and Sarah’s Merit Award is one of only 35! Check out the virtual exhibition when it opens on June 1, 2026.

State FBLA Officer Interviews and Board Meeting were held at Herington Schools today. Isabelle, Koryn, Atalie and Mrs. Beye were in attendance. Henry attended the meeting via zoom. Henry and Isabelle will be completing their terms in March. Atalie and Koryn are running for a state office.
First Grade also had a fun Christmas party before break! They decorated little Christmas trees. There were also some special visitors, Mrs. Hett and her baby!
