Mrs. Barnes's fourth grade class completed their “Haunted House for Sale” writing project just in time for Halloween! They were very proud of the pop-up houses they made to represent the haunted houses from their papers! #LevelUpRailers

Xylophones, snakes, dancing, and fireworks are only a few hobbies this eccentric family have. But what happens when the son of a rich CEO of a company is engaged to a daughter of this quirky family? Performances are November 10th & 11th at 7pm and November 12th @ 2pm in the Herington Elementary School Gymnasium.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. On November 11th, Veteran's Day, veterans will get in for free!

Now Hiring Early Childhood Assistant Teacher-
The childcare assistant teacher will work closely with the Lead teacher in conducting daily duties such as serving meals, changing diapers, writing daily reports, recording attendance, engaging in play, assisting to put children to sleep, and creating a safe environment where the children will play and learn. Staff will implement lesson plans that target specific skills and concepts, while managing classroom behavior and keeping all children engaged. Partner and communicate with parents, with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children. Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners.

Breakfast will not be provided for our veterans and active duty service members, but our wonderful food service staff is going to have some coffee available. At 8:10, we will have a brief read-aloud to the student body and then a recognition of the veterans and active duty service members in attendance. Please encourage students to wear red, white and blue on Friday, November 10th!!!

During the month of October Middle School students held a change drive competition between grades to raise money for Elsie Brooks Breast Cancer Foundation out of Dickinson County. With the change, the students donated and the Pink Out Night Football game, we are able to donate $179.46. MS Student Council sponsored this event. The picture below features President Gage Billinger, and Vice President Jocelyn Lawrenz.
Reminder to parents of seniors, a college financial aid representative will be at HHS on Wed, Nov 8th at 2:00pm to discuss the changes and the process for FAFSA (Pell Grant). She will be meeting with the senior class for a presentation in the cafeteria. Parents are welcome to come. We will also record the session and post a link for it if parents are unable to attend. The FAFSA process is getting completely overhauled. It is not expected to be available for use until December, specific date TBD. Colleges are aware of this, so students should go ahead and complete college applications without their FAFSA info at this point.
Juniors had the opportunity to tour Flint Hills Technical School in Emporia today.
All students/kids that are 5th grade or younger need to be accompanied by an adult in order to attend this event.
Juniors had the opportunity to attend a college visit at ESU today. Students went on a campus tour as well as met with different departments of interest.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to K.S.A. 72-3126, of a public hearing to be held on the 20th day of November, 2023, at 6:00 p.m, at Herington Board of Education office (19 N. Broadway) regarding the Unified School District No. 487, Dickinson County, Kansas proposed policy to determine the number of nonresident students that the school district has the capacity to accept in each grade level for each school of the school district pursuant to K.S.A. 72-3123, and amendments thereto, including clearly specifying the reasons that the board may use to deny continued enrollment of a nonresident student who is not in good standing.
A representative of the board shall present the board’s proposal for the policy, and the board shall hear testimony regarding the proposed policy.
