Day 6 of the WW2 Tour is the day that will stick with the students the most. Today was the Normandy Beaches. We incredibly were able to go to 3 out of 5 beaches today, Sword, Omaha, & Utah. Our kids behaved incredibly well and really felt the weight of the importance of the locations. We felt like we traveled back in time to June 6, 1944 due to TONS of WW2 era vehicles and uniformed people. We also got to go to the town of Arromanches, the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, Pointe Du Hoc, and the Utah Beach Museum. So much squeezed in, but the day was incredible. The days are winding down but we are so happy to be here WITH history! Tomorrow is the Palace of Versailles!
Yesterday was Day 5 of the WW2 Tour had students leaving London and heading towards Portsmouth. That is where a lot of items were created for D-Day and where most soldiers shipped out of at its huge port.
They explored the incredible D-Day Story Museum and found some local cuisine, such as fish and chips. They then were able to board a Ferry, which was more like a floating hotel. They had a 6 hour ride that included trivia, karaoke, and a 18th birthday party for newly graduated Brenna Korgol! They are now in France! 🇫🇷
Tomorrow the group is off to the Normandy Beaches!

Day 4 of the WW2 tour had students getting a very in depth driving/walking tour of London, with an emphasis on the war. Our guide, Stuart, was hilarious and very engaging. During that we were able to see St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, and other sights.
Another great visit was getting to explore the Winston Churchill War Rooms, where the prime minister of England conducted much of the war from. It was incredible to be right there with history.
The history of the war is really coming alive to these students! Go Railers!
Day 3 of the WW2 tour had students exploring Bletchley Park, which is where they broke the Nazi Secret code, which became essential for D-Day.
Afterwards, they got to do fun hands-on exhibits at the National Museum of Computing such as playing old school video games, a VR headset activity, and seeing the world’s oldest working digital computer!!
They also visited the Royal Air Force museum.

Several HHS students were able to go to Europe for a 9 day excursion all about World War 2!!
Today was being in London and seeing Big Ben and other London icons. As well as the Imperial War Museum!

June 17th to June 20th will be the HMS girls basketball camp from 9:30 - 10:30. All returning players, graduated players and incoming players are welcome to attend to work on basic fundamentals and skills.
The HMS volleyball camp will be June 10th - 13th in the HES gym at 9:15 - 10:30 am. The camp will be for returning team members, girls who will be an HMS 6th grade student for the 24-25 school year, and any HMS girls who were not on the team last year, but would like to participate.
JOB POSTING--USD 487 is in search of someone to join our kitchen staff. Duties include food preparation, serving, and clean up of the kitchen area. This is a nine month position with an option for some additional hours during school breaks. Hourly rate is determined by experience. Hours are approximately 7:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break. Benefits: the full premium for a single health/dental insurance policy is paid for by the district. 13 days of Paid Time Off available after a 90 day probationary period. Senior Class Night is at 6:00 tonight in the HS Gym. Graduation is Sunday, May 19th at 2:00. Let's Celebrate the Class of 2024!!
HES had an assistant principal this morning! Star Haynes used her positive behavior points to earn this. Star helped out with breakfast, set-up for fifth grade promotion, and several other miscellaneous office tasks. #LevelUpRailers

Requirements: Attendance at morning practices Tuesday and Thursday as well as Archery Meets throughout the year. Some Saturday's required. Also required to have or be able to take and pass NASP Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) certification class before next school year.
