The HHS junior class will be taking the ACT WorkKeys assessment on Wednesday October 2nd. Students need to be at school for their advisory class at 8am. Students will earn a nationally recognized Career Readiness Certificate. The assessment will cover three topics; Applied Math, Work place documents, and Graphic Literacy. The certification will identify which skills they already possess and it can be used during job searches to inform employers of the skills they have already obtained. Parents, please help ensure your junior will be on time. If the assessment has already started, students will not be allowed to sit for the exam, per ACT guidelines.

BIG NEWS FROM HERINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TODAY!!!
We have officially been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon Award winning School!
Earlier today, the United States Department of Education announced the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Only four schools in Kansas received this award. We are so proud to be continuing the tradition of excellence at Herington Elementary School as this is the second time that HES has been named a National Blue Ribbon School (2007).
The U.S. Department of Education recognizes all schools based on student performance data including assessment results, student subgroup performance, and graduation rates. Schools are recognized in both or either of two performing categories:
• Exemplary High Performing Schools: These schools are among the top performers in their state as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
• Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools: These schools excel in narrowing achievement gaps between different student groups and the overall student body.
Each nominated school submits a comprehensive application detailing its school culture, programs, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership, and family/community involvement.
Visit the National Blue Ribbon Schools website to learn more about this award: https://nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov/
GREAT JOB AND CONGRATULATIONS, RAILERS!!!
