The USD 4 8 7 Covid team has determined that the district will continue to operate in the "yellow". This means that students in grades preschool through 12th grade can continue to come to school in person for the upcoming week. Please continue to practice social distancing, good hand hygiene, and wearing a mask in public. All of these measures are helping to keep our students in school and participating in activities as well!
Little Railers hard at work during centers! It may look like "just play" but they are building a lever (simple machines), making towers with more or fewer blocks (math concepts), sorting furniture by room (vocabulary), and putting the alphabet stamps away (matching letters). Students could also choose to skate in our pretend ice rink (gross motor work)! Preschool is always #breakingout to create their own learning experiences!

December Student of the Month - HHS - Diether Leach
Diether is the son of Todd and Annie Leach.
He is involved in Scholar’s Bowl and taking Yearbook Pictures.
When asked why he thinks he was selected for Student of the Month, Diether answered, “I honestly don’t know why I was chosen. I am just an ordinary student who keeps my grades up and focuses on my schoolwork. I am a positive person who makes sure that there is a smile on someone’s face. I also like to support all my classmates in what they do and give them some confidence.”
Mr. Chesterman feels that Diether was chosen for Student of the Month “ because he’s an intelligent, well-mannered kid!”
Congratulations Diether!

The middle school staff members chose 7th grader, Sevana Stepherson, as the December Student of the Month. Sevana participates in vocal, student council, the honors program, and is the basketball manager. Sevana feels that she was chosen at Herington Middle School’s student of the month because she has received straight A’s, she is helpful towards other students, she follows the Rail Way and the Three R’s, she shows respect in class, and is a role model for other students. Sevana is the daughter of Teresa Maria Stepherson and step-daughter of Ronnie Mac Moncrief.
