Tonight we are kicking off the 2021 Herington football season with a jamboree hosted by your Railers. The Jamboree will be broken down into 3 sessions, 12 plays of offense, then 12 plays of defense. There will be a 10 minute break between each session. The following teams, St. Paul, Marais Des Cygnes Valley, and Marmaton Valley, will be traveling to Herington to play the Railer football team. We look forward to the school and community filling our stands to show support for our local athletes.


Herington High School After Prom committe will be hosting Tailagte parties before each home football game. 5:30 to 6:45pm by the entrance gate.


Football Jamboree - Friday, August 27th
HHS Football will be hosting MDCV, St Paul and Marmaton Valley in a Football Jamboree. Start time of the event is 7:00 pm. GO RAILERS!!

The High School Cross County will be having a milkshake run tomorrow night at the track before the football jamboree. The run will begin at 6:45 pm. Have a great season RAILER RUNNERS!!!

Teaching as a Career class helped fill one of the display cases over in the Elementary today.



Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Gutsch for being selected as the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year for USD 487. Mrs. Gutsch is a third grade teacher at Herington Elementary.
Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for hosting another great banquet Saturday evening.

FALL SPORT PRACTICES - BEGIN MONDAY!
Fall sports practices will begin after school on Monday, August 16th! We are looking forward to getting started with our fall activities. Practice times and places are as follows:
JH Volleyball - grades 6-8 girls - practice after school in the middle school gym. Be dressed and ready to practice by 3:40 (Coach Carol Stillwell)
JH Football - grades 7-8 boys - practice after school - meet in Mr. Lingenfelser's room by 3:40 ( Coach Blake Homman)
HS Volleyball - grades 9-12 girls - practice after school in the high school gym - Be dressed and ready to practice by 3:40 ( Coach Lisa Beye)
HS Football - grades 9-12 boys - practice after school - meet in the locker room to change out by 3:45 ( Coach Cade Albert)

Back to Activities Night!!
We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year. Herington Schools have a variety of activities and pathways that students can take advantage of. We would like to start the year off on a positive note and let students and parents have a chance to see what all there is to offer. This event is sponsored by SALT, Orange Express and Thrivent.
All students 6-12 are encouraged to attend with a parent/guardian.

The Football and Volleyball Teams currently have apparel stores open for sale of Railer Gear. These do not go through the school. You get online and order what you want and it ships to you. We are excited to announce a New Program that will start this School Year in USD #487! The Program NASP-National Archery in the Schools Program was approved by the USD #487 BOE in July to begin this School Year. NASP started 20 years ago in Kentucky & 15 years ago in KS. There are over 150 schools in KS who are involved. The NASP Program will be offered to any male & female students in Grades 4 thru 12 in USD #487! We encourage everyone who is interested in the Awesome Program for our Students to pick-up informational packets during the Open House event on Wednesday 8/11 & Thursday 8/12. Please feel free to drop by the Herington Middle School Science Room & meet & visit with Mr. Fewin the new HMS Science Teacher about the Archery Program & the opportunities for our students. Mr. Fewin brings 8 years of NASP Archery experience to Herington & has had student Archers compete at Regional, State & National Tournaments. There are numerous opportunities for students to receive college scholarships to shoot Archery also. Mr. Biehler will be helping Mr. Fewin with the NASP Program! Mr. Biehler & Mr. Fewin are extremely excited bring NASP Archery to our students & are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new equipment! We look forward to seeing everyone Wednesday & Thursday evening!
