Unit Summary

In this unit, students will study the impact of racism/prejudice on global conflict in modern times. Students will discov= er the reasons for conflict between Romans and Germanic peoples, the Russo-Japanese war, WWI, WWII, and the most recent events occurring over terrorism.

Assessment Summary

In this unit, students will perform various different activities according to the different global conflicts. Students will write an essay over how racism/superiority feeli= ngs affected World leaders in their quest for power during the age of Imperialism and times of Global conflict.  Students will apply the visual ranking tool to the underlying caus= es of World Wars I and II. Students will participate in a showing evidence activity towards the specific cause of WWII. The seeing reason tool will = be applied to causes of modern Terrorism. The culminating activity will be a series of Power point presentations that will compare and contrast the ca= uses of conflict, and web diagrams depicting the reasoning behind these confli= cts.

During the age of Global conflict, there were many gen= eral reasons for the causes of WWI and WWII. In this activity, you will use a visual ranking tool. This tool is used to determine the importance of a specific topic. You will rank the causes of Global conflict from top (most important) to bottom (least important) according to your opinion. Followi= ng this, you will research different world leaders from that era and write an essay describing how that person used racism/hatred as a reason for confl= ict.
